Bell Housings early to late- Bell Housing Guru question
I'm assembling parts together and getting ready to connect the transmission to the bell housing. My original '31 Bell Housing was cracked and I obtained another which I'm wondering if it's an earlier Bell Housing version because of finding the clutch release shaft having a keyway to help retain the fork on the shaft. My cracked Bell Housing did not have the shaft keyway. I want to completely rebuild the Bell Housing, but now question whether this replacement (possibly earlier version) Bell Housing is something that cannot be rebuilt using all new components obtained from parts suppliers. Do I need to look for a later version Bell Housing or are they basically all the same from 28 to 31? What should I look for in a later Bell Housing if I need to obtain another. Thanking anyone in advance who takes the time to answer my question.
