Fordor rain gutter removal
I have a 29 Briggs Fordor and I would like to repaint the rain gutters because the paint is flaking off. I see a screw at both ends of the rain gutters. If you remove both screws, do the gutters just come off or are the mounted some other way? Thanks!

Re: Fordor rain gutter removal
No, the rain gutters have a lot of nails that would need to be pulled.

Tom doesn't the outer painted gutter snap on to the inner tack strip that is nailed? or is the briggs fordor different.

Yes, at least the ones I've seen. I guess if it was me I'd try to touch up the paint with the gutters in place, unless the roof leaked or needed to be tightened up or replaced.

Re: Fordor rain gutter removal
You mention that the rain gutters have screws holding them on. This indicates that at some point in the past, a previous owner has dealt with them in some manner. The rain gutter is in two parts... a backing strip that is nailed to the top wood and the actual gutter which snaps over the backing plate. The screws are likely installed where they go through both parts. I would be afraid that if I removed the screws, the whole assembly would come off or at least come loose. If you are only concerned with appearance, mask them off and paint them.

Re: Fordor rain gutter removal
I'm thinking that based on the potential problems that may arise from removing them, I will probably just mask and repaint them on the car. Thanks!
