I think the slotted hole steering holes were so the same frame could be used on the passenger car and pickup. As for the plate, try Neal Jennings. I got one from him earlier this year.

The frame holes are slotted, but the plate is not supposed to be. They are often missing, and you can see the damage done to a frame without them. Not too hard to make, but someone should repo them I would think

Dale,

I'd like a couple for my '33s, please, if you proceed to make them. While late '32 frames had slotted holes to eliminate the need for separate steering sector housings for commercial vehicles as Krylon32 indicates, that plate did not come into use until late in the '33 model year. They are a good idea, however, as castle or slotted hex nuts do a number on the paint on the frame when slotted holes are present.

As I said above I got mine from Neal Jennings. He's NealinCA on here and specializes in early steering and parts.

Have them water jet cut for a nice clean edge.

Make more than you anticipate selling. I'll give you and example. I started reproducing '41 thru '48 Station Wagon, tailgate hangers. I tooled up and made six and kept on receiving orders and the final tally was 41 set's sold.

I've been making these up for a while. They are not a duplicate of the 34 version, but were made up to work on 32's as well as 33-34. They are .125" thickness, versus the .109" for the original 34 piece. They are also symmetrical, whereas the 34 version has one side clipped off.

See pics below, comparing my version to an original 34 plate.

If interested in one please send me a PM.

Thanks,

Neal
