Default Paint color under body

Getting ready to paint a 30 roadster body. Is the underside of the body painted black as the frame or is it painted body color. Is the inside painted black or body color?

Depends on if you are wanting to do it authentically -or your preferred way. Body was originally primed with a Red-Oxide bondorizer and only the areas that would be seen were actually painted in main body color.

Hello, the judging standards do allow for painting the underneath of body to match body color, usually the lower if two tone. Brent is right , Ford wasn’t going to waste paint so didn’t go out of the way to paint underneath might have some color from overspray as he shows in pictures. They allow the more complete painting for preservation and probably more “sellable “ for resale.

If a person isn't too picky, the bottom could be painted black for corrosion protection. It's not authentic except for maybe the wheel well areas but there is no better protection than primer and paint. Modern primers such as epoxy types are good but more is better.
