Thumbs up Wayne Carini at Hershey

Wandering around Hershey this morning I saw a camera crew and Wayne Carini filming. Looked kinda busy but I asked him if I could get a picture with him. He was very gracious and a great guy!

I met Wick and helped me find some headlight buckets. It was great to finally meet someone who you only connect with here on the Barn! Thanks Wick!

Also, my first Hershey trip was a success thanks to a lot of input I received here. Namely due these lessons learned:
  1. If you see it, buy it!
  2. Bring a cart!!
  3. Bring a folding chair (I brought a cane chair and it came in very useful!!
  4. Always dicker with people.
  5. Try to leave a bit early in the afternoon so as not to get caught in traffic.
Overall, the people were great, weather was great and it was an overwhelming, but awesome experience for a first timer!
Thanks again guys!

Some day ill get to Hersey, I learned a few of the same things when i went to IOLA 2 years ago: Wear sunscreen, bring a cart, see it - want it- buy it, always move in a logical route in case you need to make a bathroom detour you can find where you left off. Haggle on everything - if their stuck on their price try bundling things together.

Cant make the bring a cart statement bigger lol. Bring the most versitile cart you can build or buy. Possibly bring a backpack for the lighter items...

Wayne is a "normal" car guy who never forgets his humble roots!

I saw the man who is on Pickers now and then. Harley Parts...a Million parts for a Million dollars.
Add to your buggy a box to fit the bottom of it. 2 bungee cords a bag that holds the small stuff along with water and a snack. Flashlight wire brush gloves.
take pictures with cell phone of spot numbers or parts your looking for.

I have seen Wayne at the Amelia Concourse here in Fernandina Beach many times. I have to agree that he seems to be a very nice person who is not at all snooty. I like his show as well. Glad that you got to see him I guess the show on Hershey will be on in about April 2015 or so. Sorry that I was not able to attend!

I think you are correct, ....and I think it is just a product of how time changes things. Many people's health are of such where they are physically unable to sort, load, set-up, sell, pack-up any longer. EBay is now much easier for some. PA sales tax laws have deterred many of us too. All coupled together, it makes a difference.

Too many aisles with huge motor-homes and empty auto transports and no cars or parts for sale. Too many spaces with folks names on them but nothing there. ?? A couple of years ago you couldn't get a space at Hershey, NOW they're empty, but someone is paying for them?

Might be time for AACA Hershey region to consider turning one of the fields into a place for "campers in motor-home" and restricting flea market fields to antique items?

Some really good items at reasonable prices and some "junk (IMHO)" at ridiculous prices.

My wife and I love to go for no other reason than to see that guy who found "IT" and is grinning eat to ear. Some old dude like me was carrying a steering column form a 19?? something and headed home. That was what he needed to make his Hershey trip.

Ted
p.s. the oil bottles in the wire basket I bought in 1971 at Hershey sure were a bargain!
