Wells said Y-Blockhead!!!

I have installed dozens with no problems.... and I agree with the flexing post above. the radiator, frame, engine all flexes, vibrates, and moves a lot, and those longer hoses absorb that flex.

I tried that with my Craftsman 11/16th and it won't go....the socket is 1" tall....

And I just bought the Snap-on offset wrench and it won't go either......hits the neck casting

I still have to remove the temp probe to torque the head.....

Something I found out yesterday when I was retorquing the head on a friends 30 coupe was that my adapter fits perfect. He has had the upper neck on his car for quite a few years now. Not only are those castings taller, they have a lot more room for a socket or adapter. Therefore I can't recommend the adapter or neck for a 28 or 29.

My way and all my problems solved. 5/8" hole drilled into back of water neck. 1/2" black pipe nipple welded brazed to water neck over hole. With the half pipe nipple there are plenty of thread. Temp probe screws into pipe thread.
please forgive the bad photo. Not much light in shop tonight.

According to this website: http://www.cncexpo.com/TorqueAdapter.aspx

If you use a crowfoot socket at 90° to the torque wrench, the torque will be the same as the torque wrench setting.

That is a Craftsman socket I am using. But I think I see the difference. Mine is the taller outlet for the '30-31 and yours appears to be the shorter outlet for the '28-29.

For those of you using a V-8 water pump. There is Kabota thermostat in the hose.

1955cj5, besides the type of crowfoot you showed there's also the type that are like an open end wrench:
