Engine splash pans.
Anybody know if the engine splash pans for a '37 Ford passenger car are the same as the '40 Ford passenger car?

Re: Engine splash pans.
I am NO expert BUT given that from 1932 thru 1937 (even 33 & 34 are different) are ALL different, I,E not ONE will fit the other....... I can ALSO say that 39 Ford and 39 Mercury are ALSO different.......I would almost assuredly think the answer would be no, they are not the same!!!!!

Re: Engine splash pans.
The engine splash pans for a '39 DeLuxe might be similar to a '40 Standard, but then again maybe not...

Re: Engine splash pans.
And then..............
Splash pans for 1937 were different. There is the 78- part number and the 74- part number. You have to ask -- 85 hp or 60 hp? According to the April 1949 Ford Chassis Parts & Accessories Catalogue 74-6775 RH 60 hp and 74-6776 LH 60 hp the only pans listed for the 85 hp 1937 are part # 91A-6775 and 91A-6776 (37-41) Hope this helps -- and could answer your question about if 40 are similar. (oh, by the way, the catalogue lists them as no longer supplied) |

Re: Engine splash pans.
Bruce points to a classic example of why any version of the late '40s so-called green bible is virtually worthless when it comes to questions pertaining to vehicles no longer within shouting distance of the normal amount of time a full range of service parts was offered by Ford for an earlier model year. By definition, parts with a different, later, number prefix are not same as those used originally. They may work functionally, but they are not the same parts.

If concourse correct is not a priority, you'll have an easier time locating the '39 or '40 pans. Heck, I may even have some beauties if you so desire...

Re: Engine splash pans.
Mike and all, thanks for the responses. I have a man who is looking for the right side pan for a 85HP 37. I have an extra right side '40 and thought I might be able to help him. It appears the '37 and '40 are not the same. Mike has confirmed my suspicion that it will fit, so I will see if he needs concourse correct or not. Thanks guys.
