Default overdrive transmissions

will someone please tell me whether or not a early 6 volt solenoid will work on a later t-86 transmission. Thanks very much. Jim

It will as long as both have a 1-inch operating shaft application. Some convertibles and station wagons had longer operating shafts.

The cars with an "X" frame require an adapter to mount the solenoid, but the solenoids are the same.

The solenoids are not the same for the convertible.
they sort of are but the hex needs to be adjusted and the cover is specific so the weep hole to expel moisture is at the bottom. I think 49 50 were the only ones this applies to.
