Loose Oil Pump?
The pin on my new oil pump that indexes in the block seems a bit loose in the block hole. With the pump pushed up tight I can rotate the pump 2 or 3 degrees, not much, but the pin is not tight to the hole. The spring on the bottom of the old pump was broken so I think I found the noise I have been looking for. I believe the only thing that was holding my pump in place was the oil gauge fitting screwed in tight. How is that for luck? Did the loose pump wear the pin hole or is this about normal and OK?

Re: Loose Oil Pump?
i would not worry too much about the pump being loose. i would be more worried about the pin (?) being too tight. i had a customers whose pump broke from a bolt being installed to keep the pump in position, (ruined his whole day) make sure the spring on the bottom of the pump is good (read new) this will keep the pump in position. just my .02 worth.
