'30 Fordor Drip Rails
Reinstalling the original two-piece drip rails on 30 Birggs Fordor. Anyone have experience doing this......could use some coaching.

Re: '30 Fordor Drip Rails
Just go easy. Not sure if you have new wood that your nailing into. Don't dimple the clip of you will pay hell trying to snap on the drip rail itself. Use a block of wood wrapped with cloth if needed to "snap" the drip rail onto the clip rail.

Re: '30 Fordor Drip Rails
Thanks Bob and Art. Glad to have the suggestions on mounting the rails. However, I have a question which precedes that step. I've been working on this car for several years and when i took the drip rails off, I removed the nails from the inner sections to facilitate cleaning off some surface rust and priming. While the outer sections can only fit on one side of car (right or left) the inner sections could mount on either side an I cannot remember which way they go (yeah, should have made that note somewhere). In examining them, I am assuming that the rounded edge of the inner section goes to the outside which would mean that the pointy dimples of the predrilled nail holes also go to the outside......or do i have that backwards. I know this is going to make a big difference in mounting the outer section. Also, when i removed these rails, there was a thin layer of "gasket" material under the inner section.....should i replace this and if so, what should be used.

Re: '30 Fordor Drip Rails
If they’re the same idea as the new ones there is a picture in the other post that I posted. Hope it helps.
