A fellow on the HAMB is fabricating a nice body from a VW. Here is a link:
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/t...edeuce.945382/ I guess he couldn't afford a Brookville body. |

Talk about doing things the hard way! Reminds me of the old MAD magazine series on making one tool out of another one. LOL High level of skill that's for sure.

Re: newbie 51 build
Maybe VW made a flathead V8 in 1951? I'm 70 and had flatheads all my life. But I just can't remember-------so my memory might be failing me.

Re: newbie 51 build
Pat . I think your on the right track. If I were you I would pick up an old set of Ardun heads, put them on a 59 block 1/4 in. stroker with a Columbia rear and, a 39 top loader. maybe a 4 in. drop front axle. Should turn some heads , and light um up also.

Re: newbie 51 build
rotowrench, thanks for that Hamb link, that is awesome work, I can't imagine how many man hours he must have in that.. the only thing I fear is if it ever gets hit, will all the welds just pop loose and the car falls to pieces...lol . Oddly enough I have a 47 Ford I got running again after 34yrs, and presently working on my 61 convertible vw. It is just the love of automobiles, many makes and models why just have one..
