Default '40 floorboard seal

What is used in the '40 to seal the space at the top of the transmission cover where it attaches to the bottom of the firewall and the wood floorboard. There is small open space that the weather or critters could come in through. Photo of the area in question.

To my knowledge there is no type of seal in that location. It's a pretty snug fit when all is screwed down. You could probably use some "dum dum" putty seal if needed. Here's a bunch of photos that I posted as I have them. I bought all my seals from DRAKE many years ago when he was in Canoga Park, CA and his catalogue didn't show a seal for top of transmission floor pan. "Kube" would know for sure. Heater color is not stock.

You can get a roll of black closed cell foam seal at your local hardware store to seal the top if you think you need it.

No seal there. None really necessary.

Has your transmission cover been altered from stock?

No alteration and it is excellent condition as well as the wood floor boards. I solved the problem to my satisfaction.

In my old 40 coupe the floorboard pieces had shrunk over time so I used felt material the wife the had lying around for n the edges. Worked very well for the 15+ years I had the car .....

we used napa windshield install black mastic, stays flexible, removable, seals tight to keep out fumes and water. you can get different thickness, used to cost under $15 for roll.
