I know that BS60A is the body code corresponding to 54 Capri 2 door hardtop, VIN is 54 (year) WA (Wayne assembly plant, BTW where is Wayne?????) 11385 is the serial number (starting at 5001) and H is engine type.
I found this on restorecars.com:

I believe you have found the Rosetta Stone.

Wayne would be the Lincoln assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan. It still exists but no longer assembles Lincolns.

In the '50's movie "The Long-Long Trailer" (Lucile Ball/Dezie Arnez), while it was suppose to be a '53 Merc, part of the movie was made with a '53 Lincoln. The Merc couldn't navigate the hills pulling the trailer, so they used a Lincoln dressed up like a Mercury.

Check out this fully restored 1954 Lincoln Capri Coupe race car. It is on display at the new Lincoln Museum that opened last year, built on the grounds of the beautiful Gilmore Car Museum, located at Hickory Corners, Michigan.
These Lincolns were very successful racers at the annual Carrera Panamericana races held in the early fifties.

Hello, the Problem is really the avaibility of Parts. The Price for Parts are much higher than for Ford or Mercury. Lincolnoldparts.com has a lot of Parts .

Thanks for all the infomation guys, especially Mercman who decoded the body specifications. That's it, I was thinking that the original color was light and dark green, but it should be light green and black.
Where did you find the info Mercman?
Thanks a lot again, that's great.

Hi Fredv, I got this information out of the book "American Car ID Numbers 1950-1959" by Cars & Parts. They also produced similar books on 1960-1960 and 1970-1979. I tried to Scan the relevant pages, but because it is such a thick book, I couldn't get the pages flat, and it did not come out well.
These Books are a wealth of information. You should be able to pick them up on eBay. Regards Mercman <><

As everybody knows, Lincoln still had one more year to run with this same body, but there were changes to the rear quarters etc, as well as a redesigned Grille, Tail Lights & Side Trim with the 55 model. The basic body went from 1952 to 1955. While the 52 and 53 Lincolns shared the same design Hubcap, a new Hubcap design was released for the 1954 model. The new 55 models had a similar looking Hubcap, but it differed from the 1954 model. I have read in many publications where the authors say that the 54 and 55 Lincoln Hubcaps are the same, however, they are not. Sure, at close glance they appear to be the same, but if you look closely, you will see a slight change in the centre of the Shields. I have seen a few Lincolns with "mixed" 54 and 55 Hubcaps. Check out the above photos. In the top photo showing the 2 hubcaps side by side, they appear to be the same (except for the missing painted centre on the 55 hubcap). Then check out the closeup of both the 54 and 55 Hubcaps and the differences becomes obvious. I guess that you owners of 54 and 55 Lincolns are going to check the hubcaps on your car now?

Thanks for this additional information Mercman, yes, they look close but thanks to your comments, there is indeed a difference in the shield design, and in the knight armor as well. I will check that on the car too

Following Mercman's very useful information (thanks again Trevor), I purchased the No. 192 Lincoln Mercury Service bulletin dated October 1953.
Here is a scan of '54 Lincoln VIN plate codes:

Hope it can help other '54 Lincoln owners.

I went to see the car last week end, body and frame are straight, paint is below average, bumpers have been replated, all trim and moldings are in good shape, no rust (except on lower part of luggage compartment, low quarter panels ansd inside rear fenders), glasses are good.
Interior is ok except front seat, a few parts missing, power windows (except one rear) and power seat are working.
Tires are almost new, brakes are new.
I cannot check oil pressure as the gauge was not working.
After a ride with the car, I was a bit disapointed, steering has a lot of play, engine seems to be not powerful as it should, strong vibration around 70 km/h, hydramatic transmission seems to work fine, but all gears upshift occurs as low speed, no kickdown after 60 km/h.

Note the speedometer in km/h

My main concern is about the transmission...

I try the stall test, rpm doesn't drop with the accelerator pressed in Drive nor in Reverse... maybe band adjustment or ????
What do you think ?
