Default 40-41 pickup bed

Hello, could someone help me with the measurements of the front and rear wooden components of the 40-41 pickup bed.Especially the length of the front piece. It is an American built bed and I bought it in a completely stripped down state, with no wood, and just a pile of rusted, bent, metal. I will probably need some more help in the near future. Hope the pic (supplied by another Fordbarn member) comes thru ok. Thanks in advance, Gordon

Although I cannot help you with your needed dimensions, as a woodworker since 1971, and I'm here to say that's some darn good work you are doing. I had no idea all that was going on under those beds. Two thumbs up!

Not too long ago you could buy the wood in a kit ready to install. Does anyone have information in this?

"VERY NICE" bed wood is available from Brad Brown (when he is off sabbatical), you pay for quality. Mack Products has bed to frame wood that is "simplified" from the original, and less expensive.

'38 - '41 should be the same. Here is my '38.

The top board is 3" wide for both the front and the rear.
The bottom front block is 3-5/8" wide.
The bottom rear block is 3 1/4" wide.

Front blocks are 7" long.
Rear blocks are 5" long.

Top boards measure 45-3/4" (front) and 45-1/2" (rear). The front board is tight and the rear is loose so it looks to me that they could both be made the same at 45-5/8".
