Re: Interesting No Knock
Actually, several engines (mostly stationary) used this spring set-up with reasonable success. The only issue I see using the one in the pictures is the lack of a dipper for oiling. On the other hand, Model-T's did not use dippers from the factory.

Re: Interesting No Knock
The ad is for the bolts only. I assume you use your con rods that would have the dippers?

Re: Interesting No Knock
If it gave it more power , I suppose that would cause it to become a hot rod .

Re: Interesting No Knock
OK then, how do you propose to replace the rod bolts in an A/B rod??

Re: Interesting No Knock
Connecting rods are in compression during operation, main crankshaft bearing caps are in tension. What that means is the connecting rod is pressed against the crankshaft journal when running, the rod cap does not see the load of operation. On the other hand, the main bearing caps bear the load of converting linear to rotational force.Spring load main caps and the results wont be pleasant..Connecting rod as a dipper?how? even back then they understood the concept of windage, drag as little as possible through the oil for lubrication, drag too much and the oil acts like a brake.
