Default Rumble Compartment Screws

Am I correct in thinking that all the screws in the rumble compartment were painted the body color (hinge screws and lock screws)?

Correct. My '28 still has original paint and all of that was painted the body color.

I wonder if they did a really good job spraying them or they were painted before being put on the lid? Doesn't seem to make sense.

From what I've read the lid was installed on the car when painted. The colour was applied inside and around the lid opening then the outside was painted. So it was strickly a production job. Not fancy. Paint on it to keep it from rusting. When in doubt go look at a new Ford. The production ways haven't changed to much!!!
