Default running board trim

1928 phaeton-hello, i am an amateur - i'm in the process of restoring my run bds and notice that both bds have nickel trim on only 3 sides -front, back inner-the out side has contoured surface and no rivet holes
question-all the cars ive seen had have trim on 4 sides- are there any exceptions and are my bds stock or altered? thank you

From the Model A Restoration Guidelines book:
"From 1928 thru September 1930, the board had zinc trim on all four sides, mitered at the comers. The end strips (where the fenders bolt on) were riveted to the running board with two zinc or cadmium plated tubular rivets after the board was painted."

This is a great example of why anyone who works on a Model A should have a copy of the Restoration Guidelines to refer to when working on their car. They are not just for people doing Fine Point cars. They are for anyone that would like to try to keep their car authentic, within the limits of their skill and pocketbook. Armed with knowledge of how things should look, it often takes little more time or money to do things "right" the first time.

The ballots will start arriving in your mailbox around August 15th through the end of the month. MAFCA mails out about 14,000 renewal notices, so they get spread out over several days, and will naturally take longer to get to more distant destinations.

Thanks for your support.
