Default 1931 Model A Ford replacement radiator fit

I was wondering if any of the members of the board have experienced fitting the new reproduction radiators to their cars or trucks. I had purchased a radiator on ebay a year or so ago. The radiator works well, but the fit was very bad. I had to put a 30 radiator shell to make it fit poorly. I believe I am going to have to torch the radiator mount to refit it to make it work with car.

Changing to a '30 shell shouldn't make a difference. How about a better description of "the fit was bad".

Added a rad ( not he BW one) from Brattons 12 years ago, terrible fit . I had to relocate brackets to line up with shroud. Then the weld on the lower hose flange cracked a year later. bye-bye. Called Lee at Brass Works and got a repop there. Perfect and looks original. For a couple of hundred bucks difference it is not worth the grief, IMO.

New from where. There are several people making the radiators.

Pinstripe: Do a search for discussion about BrassWorks and then you decide.

I have a Brassworks in my '31 Tudor and the fit is just fine, an easy install. I put it in about 3 or 4 years ago.

Bought Mac's "HEAVY DUTY" one for my 30 coupe. So far my only problem was getting my repro. quail to fit. It went in pretty easily and every thing but the quail went right back together. The car was overheating badly before but all is good now.

Well two things stood out. The worst was there is a 1/4" overhang of the mounting band hanging over the front of the radiator which hits the shell. Hence the need to run the deeper radiator shell without the recessed top. Also the bottom center of the radiator hits the crankhole which makes it sit slightly higher. My radiator that started leaking was an original and it fit the shell and car perfectly.

I have never heard a bad comment about Berg's radiators. He is manufacturing an all new radiator. http://bergsradiator.com/modela.html

I have installed Brassworks radiators in my '30 Tudor (4-5 years ago), and just recently in my '31 Panel Truck. Great fit on the car frame, and with the radiator shells. Everything is running 'cool'!
