Default Dad's secret (sorta) project coming together

Dad has had this GP for quite a while and he has had this project going now for a little more than year. I'm impressed with the project and outcome as this was started and going without my knowledge so it was a big surprise to hear he had started it and a bigger one when I finally saw it!!!!

I sold mine about three years ago, they are a rare breed with the correct stuff. N series tractor/industrial engine, model A trans, truck instrument panel, hodi. shocks and so on.

Brings back some memories, my brother bought a mint CJ3A off an aircraft engineer all rebuilt we had it in our teens, rolled it out come summer top off and we abused it .. fun vehicle, years and years later he traded it as part payment on a block of land.

A friend's dad, back in the 50's, had a "Jeep" that he said was a Ford. Actually had a Ford tailgate on it. I always assumed it was legit. Anyone else seen a Ford tailgate on a Jeep?

ALL Early production Ford Jeeps had the "script" Ford on the back AKA pictured until "early" to "Mid'ish 1942.

Ford built many thousands of those Jeeps. There is also a SCRIPT Ford "F" on the head of almost every bolt on the vehicle. Willys didn't have the capacity to build anywhere near the number of Jeeps that Uncle Sam needed. DD

ACTUALLY.......early on in the military jeep development and subsequent offerings to the military BOTH Ford & Willy's "stamped" their product. In mid 42 the Federal Government put a stop to that practice. ALSO, early on, the script "F" was not only on the heads of all the bolts.....it was stamped on every piece on the jeep...seats, light buckets, top bow mounts, spare tire mount etc etc. Here is a "Willy's" eample

Its a "GP", "GPW" was the next incarnation. Yes, as stated above, a Ford Truck gauge cluster, a Ford 9N type motor, etc etc. and thanks for the kind compliments.
