Default Driving to museum opening?

I was just wondering how many Barners were going to be driving Model A's to the Model A Museum Grand Opening in May. A couple of us from the Fort Worth area are thinking about it, and I was wondering how many other people were thinking of doing the same. I think it's about 1300 miles one way from here.

I'll be there!

The museum opening is being coordinated with the Michigan Model A Roundup, hosted in 2013 by the Grape Country Model A Club. The annual Roundup normally features around 200 Model A's from the 20 Michigan MARC chapters, plus miscellaneous guests and friends. If you would like to enhance your visit to the museum opening by joining the Roundup, additional information can be found on our website or links provided:

http://gcmodela.weebly.com/index.html

The new Model A museum is part of the Gilmore Car Museum, which is a very impressive facility located on a pleasant rural campus about 15 miles northeast of Kalamazoo. There are many motel options at the various Kalamazoo exits off of I-94. Even without the Model A museum, the Gilmore is a worthy destination for old car buffs. The Kalamazoo Air Zoo, which will be coordinating special hours for Roundup participants, is another amazing who'd-a-thunk-it experience for folks of all ages and interests: Who'd of ever thought it would be possible to just walk up to and touch an SR-71 Blackbird?!

Welcome, and I hope to meet a lot of you there!

Steve

EDIT: I should clarify that our Roundup is a MARC event, and a MARC membership number will be required to register. The Gilmore and MAFFI events are, of course, open to all.

We might have to check out that meet. What time is the welcome party? Hopefully at night since we would be driving in that day.

I've been trying figure out how to do it, but the logistics of calendar, time, distance, age and money just won't work for me. I'm not concerned about the car; I know it would make it!

Hey Steve S from Kalamazoo, you should know that the New Model A museum at Gilmore's is northeast of Kalamazoo, not northwest. I'll be there with many of our club member from the Grand A's, out of Grand Rapids,Mi

THanks for pointing out my goof; I made the correction. I'll have you know that I studied a map and gave it a good bit of thought, not to mention having been out there dozens of times, before making that mistake!

The welcome party is from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday. The meal will be turkey or ham wrap, chips, potato salad, cookie, and drink, and will be available throughout the 4-hour time (we're hoping to avoid the traditional long line). An admission wrist band and food ticket will be included in the registration welcome packet. The Air Zoo will be closed to the general public during this time.

The ribbon cutting ceremony at Gilmore will be at 11:00am, Saturday. Various food vendors will be available for lunch purchase on Saturday at Gilmore.

The Saturday night banquet social hour starts at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:30.

Of course, MAFFI, Gilmore, and Air Zoo all have their own websites, for more info.
