Mounting pickup box.

My son and I are building a 1930-31 CCPU. I have the original body mounting wood. Were looking in a vender catalog and do not find pickup box mounting wood. How does the box mount to frame.

If you're any good with wood they're pretty easy to make yourself. The hard part is finding 2" thick oak.

When I bought my CCPU, the PO had put a bumper on the back. To mount it, he extended the wood by adding a short piece which was held to the under side of the box by 2 screws on each side. He then mounted the bumper brackets to that. A decent bump and it would have all ended up on the ground.
I replaced all of the wood with 100X50X2.5 mm (4" X 2") rectangular steel tube that went the whole length of the box. I welded spacers inside so it didn't crush when I tightened the bolts and mounted the bumper on that. Nice and solid. I like the peace of mind. I might even put a tow bar on it later and I'm sure it will be strong enough.

The brackets shown in post 3 should be part of your bed. Also, the photo is deceiving, as there is some shaping of the wood surface that contacts the frame. I considered making my own, but in hind site, im happy i just bit the bullet and bought them.

Agree with Russ, underside of those wooden beams is where the sections are cut out to fit chassis/and bumper brackets etc. I had to purchase the Z bracket because they were missing and also Agree they were actually part of box /bed.
