This bellhousing can be used with the an adapter plate to put a number of different transmissions on to the 59A block or with the 8RT bellhousing to adapt various transmissions to the 8BA block. We have made adapters for the GM "Muncie" pattern transmissions including the T5 (FHT-350 BHA), the Ford T5 (FHT-FT5 BHA), the 64-78 Ford top loader (FHT-FTL BHA)."

Sounds like a custom made part, but if they have the patterns shouldn't be a big deal. Thanks again to 29AVEE8!

I just bought a Wilcap adapter plate and the customer service was awesome! They answered all my questions and have several parts that can make your adaptation easy. I am running a '49 8RT with the Hogshead to a Ford T5, and the adapter plate from Wilcap was like 325. I will try to attach a few pics.

Thanks for posting the photos. Is their plate around 1 inch thick, that's what I used?

I really lov them Hogs heads, they offer an inexpensive way to install late transmissions to the early blocks. Both theT-170 and the T-5 with a simple adapter plate. However, If you want to install a T-5 behind an 8Ba style block, theymake a simple inexpensive adapter plate to do that sa well. It bolta uo the Passenger car bell housing, both cast and stamped steel. Thus you can use the stock clutch linkage. Richard from fla posted a series of pics on this simpet conversion. I have to get the name of the company tat makes the adapter. I used to make them.

personally, hogs head is much better than the aluminum addaptors. and remember to use a poilet bushing that is metric as the T5 input shaft is metric. when i did mine i had a machine shop locally make a bushing that fit the ford flywheel and was metric for the input shaft.. using the ford bushing the input shaft will be loose... fit a ford bushing on the T5 input shaft and you will see how sloppy it is.
i have bought several from Dwight Bond. he is still doing them...

i talked with him 4 or 5 months ago.
his is relieved and drilled to use the stock ford throw out collar, spring and throw out bearing assembly.
i do not know how to post a picture of the assembly. i can e-mail several pictures to someone if you PM me....

Donald1950 emailed me some photos of a Dwight Bond adapter. I had thought he was referring to a Ford pattern adapter, but it appears to be a Chevy pattern.

I'll post some photos of the adapter I built, it is for a Ford bolt pattern and very similar to the MDL adapter.

Yes, Mdern driveline makes the adapter for the 8BA ford 49/57 bell housing for the T-5, Inexpensive and works like a dream.
