Default Model A' shocks on a 1934 pick up truck ?

Evening; I am wondering if model A' shocks will fit and or work on a 1934
pick up truck ? The truck I am looking at has no shocks now, and since
there are new reproduction A shocks available I thought this would be

a good direction to go in, Thanks, Steve

You thought a new reproduction would be a good direction to go in?

First find out how well the new shocks work. Talk with someone who has used them. Second find out if the mounting location(bolt spacing) is the same as the holes in the '34 frame and if the shock arms are the same length as the stock '34 arms. If you are not concerned about being strictly stock there are tube shock kits that can be used on the '34 frame.

There are plenty of core '34 shocks out there for rebuilding.

'34 shocks' attachment holes are aligned straight through the center of the shock whereas those on Model A and '32 shocks are offset upward from the center line of the shocks. In other words, Model A shocks would not bolt onto a '34 frame without moving one of the attachment holes in the frame.

Then there is the matter of the arms and links to the axles. Original '34 shocks are a mixture. The fronts attach on the outside of the frame and the rears attach on the inside of the frame. The front arms are pressed on and those for the rear are bolted on. Neither type of '34 arm would work with a Model A shock on a '34 chassis. My best guess as to compatibility for the arms and links with Model A shocks would be '32 arms and '32-'33 links.

I used the really high quality reproduction A front shocks on a custom frame when I built the chassis for the Green Hornet. Arms seem to be fairly interchangeable as I used arms from the rear of a 35/36 wagon and pickup because they had the length and shape I needed. I can't remember who the shock manufacturer was but they were about 600.00 a pair.
