Default 1934 hydraulic rear brakes

When converting a 1934 to hydraulics brakes, what rear hubs and drums would I use? I am also considering using Boling Bros reproduction brakes
Thanks

I BELIEVE anything 1935 thru 1948 because of 1-3/4" brake shoes from 1935 onward. 1934 shoes are 1-1/2" wide.

Just use the appropriate bearings to suit the hubs. The axle housings /inner races are all the same dia.

If you use the BB brakes on rear, you'll need them on the front as well. Using them on the rear only, and using regular Lockheed brakes up front is very dangerous on account of the brake bias being totally wrong!

I use the Boling Bros front set and 46-48 Ford rear backing plate and B.B. hub and drum on two of my cars.

I drove on a brake test rack and got close to 60/40 front to rear braking.
Excellent brakes.

If I didn't go to Boling Bros I would use '40-'48 Ford brakes. Remember pre and post war were slightly different and I would prefer the post war but at least make them all the same. I have them on my '32 and they went on and work great. Also remember you are going to need wheel spacers if you run the '34 wire wheels (or any '28-35 wire wheel) on later drums.
See https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...=1#post1286293 for the reason the spacers are NEEDED.

Based on what I am reading, I should have the same approximate 4 3/8” of axle shaft sticking out of the axle tube?

The Boling Brothers' Lincoln style brakes use the '40 style hubs (internal to the drum).

Hubs would need to match the drums. They don't need to match the backing plates. ie) '40 hubs/drums with '46 backing plates.
