Default 1928 wood header sheet metal fitting

I forgot to fit the header to the sheet metal. The panel over the header won't work back all the way. Any pointers at fitting the sheet metal? I did steal some play doh from the kids to check clearance but it's hard to tell where to trim first.

Is the metal header cover original? If not, get the original p[art. The reproductions are notorious about not fitting.

On my 28 coupe, I had to trim off a fair amount on the front of the wood header - the wood header was from Classic Wood in NC. Is the wood header original or new wood? If it is new wood, you might need to trim off enough wood to make the metal cover piece move back to the vertical metal over the windshield on the underside. Like jimsa ask, is the metal cover original or an ill fitting repro?
