What a collection. If I were rich I'd like the highboy roadster with the stainless top.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Jeff,
Gene is the fifth owner of that standard V8 Tudor sedan. I purchased it from the original owner who traded in a Model A on it back in '32. I reluctantly let it go to Mr. Secrest in Oklahoma and he gave a very good home. After his death, it went to a collector further west who was less respectful of its condition and it subsequently ended up with Gene. It's now missing its original factory fabric and stainless steel spare tire cover and the engine compartment is a mess compared to the way the original owner maintained the car. It was put up on blocks in the fall and put back in use each spring so it never experienced winter weather, at least with its first three owners. When the original owner washed the car, he did the undersides of the fenders, running boards, and hood. I have never seen another '32 as pristine as this car when the owner decided to sell it in the late '60s due to declining health. |

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Wow DavidG, That's a lot to try to unpack.
I was BORN in 1960. So if I read correctly, this was your car sometime before I joined Cub Scouts! That's pretty amazing. If the owner traded his Model A in for it, then he had excellent taste and instincts! It sounds like he knew he had a good 'un and respected it. I can also read that you're not a fan of it's current condition. Hope it gets a loving home because it's got gobs of charm from the pictures. Let's see how many others are charmed, and how far their bank account agrees with their eyeballs? There better be A LOT of heavy hitters on this auction and the sellers should really expect it, because there is an impressive inventory going out the door here. Mecum seems to be a little outside their wheelhouse?

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
That is definitely an impressive set of 32's, I would love to have that pickup but I see why the prices are high. If those cars were cheap, they would be bought and cut up into hot rods. I have hot rods too but they were already cut up but I would love to own a beautiful stocker too.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
I'm glad I was able to see these cars together at Gene's before they're scattered across the country.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Wow, it was quite a nice collection. Didn't Gene have a "nice" cache' of 32 parts, accessories and other 32 memorabilia?? IS that going to be part of the auction?

Mon Dieu.....That coupe is nothing short of "Utter Perfection"! Why do those front WHEELS look so 'shallow' (and I really LIKE the look)? Are those the 3-1/2" 1940, V8-60 wheels that are so elusive? And do you reckon that those hub caps are "one-offs"? DD Last edited by V8COOPMAN; 03-26-2021 at 01:41 PM. |

DD ,I think you're right about those wheels. I'd put my French 97's and Marchal head lights on it but need to sell the Chateau to buy it

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Here is a pic of the other side.Slightly different bowl shape. All 97 parts interchange.Quite rare-only came across 3 in the last 5 yrs. They were on the 24 studs in the Vendome and Monte Carlo - mid 1950's.The other pic is of the bucket side of the Marchal's. Those Marchals were required on the Ford's from 1930 and in '32 used on the standards.'32 dlx were even more elaborate.

If you go to the Deuce Heaven web page, Mecum has added a couple of great videos.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
I got to meet Gene some years ago and see his collection and I was blown away. He has been collecting '32's since he was a kid. He was kind enough to let me sit in several of his cars and it is something I will never forget.

Bill, you were a very lucky man to see these cars in the flesh. What a fabulous collection of 1932 Fords. |

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
I really like how the stock 32s are not "dolled up" with bright wheel colors and white wall tires. I skipped over the hot rods, not really rare or special these days.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Like the rest of you......those 32's will make any car nut drool!
And like most of us, my champagne tastes with a beer pocketbook, relegate me to Model A's! BTW, DavidG has a very nice collection of 32's. |

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
The few 1932 experts I know believe this auction will set the standard for now on the value of 1932 Fords . One even told me he expects to see several $100,000 dollar sales . Up in value or down , time will tell . What are your predictions ?

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Down. I can’t sell anything now. I gave away a extremely nice 5W. I put original parts up for sale and absolutely no interest.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
You better have deep pockets if you go to that Auctions. I would like to go but I can't take care of what I have now. That B 400 I would like to have but I know that there no chance of me buying it. I am 81 and the Doctors are talking about taking my driver license. I think I am going to look for another doctor or quit seeing them. I guess I am just a dreamer.

Re: Deuce Heaven auction
Will the conservatively modified cars bring a higher price or the exact restorations ? This is going to be a great auction for the Duece world followers !
