era correct hat?
I bought this hat on saturday thinking it is from somewhere around the 1920's to 1930's it has some ruff spots in the back and it might be a reproduction but for $5.00 I thought it was neat. I believe it is a conductors hat. anyone know. I looked in the MAFCA era fashions book but didn't see anything like it

MODEL A MAN ....................
I believe that hat is old. I have a very similar hat, that has a 1920 Indian Motorcycle badge on it, and it looks like it has been there forever. MIKE Last edited by FL&WVMIKE; 05-27-2011 at 11:26 AM. |

I have a LOT of era magazines and many era fashion books, and I cannot recall having seen that particular cap. I will send the photo to a railroad historian friend. It would seem to be a proper conductor's cap on a southern railroad. |

Re: era correct hat?
What do the brass buttons on the side look like? Another possability is to log onto "the Fedora Lounge" and post there. Looks like a conductors hat to me, but i was wondering if it the frame for a hat and that the outer shell is missing.

Re: era correct hat?
I do know that it was use in a movie but I dont know which one. I bought the hat at western costume rental that supplies clothes for the movie industry. they have a sale once a year and there was 3 of the same hat and I was lucky to get one that fits my head.

Model A Man .......................
This hat is similar,to yours, in that it has the woven straw venelation holes. It was manufactored by the Gerber Uniform Company of Mishawaka, Indiana. The badge is dated 1920. These hats, probably saw the inside of many Model "A" Fords. MIKE CLICK ON PHOTOS TO ENLARGE - Twice |
