Default Posies 2040 Front Spring 1937 Ford??

Is the Posies 2040 spring the correct spring for a 1937 ford. Looking to drop the front end and want to install a reverse eye spring.

That's the one we used for a '40 (same as '37). Free shipping from Speedway.

Rusty, Here's a 40 Ford that has the original stock suspension EXCEPT for the Posie 2040 reversed eye spring. See the first photo in posting #3.
You can see the tiny rake. It lowers the front end 1 in.

Depending on the amount of rake you are looking for, it may take more than a spring. A dropped axle can drop it a couple of inches.

The alterative is to just buy the reversed eye main leaf and build your own spring from the original leaves. Leave out the top two short leaves and it should give you the stance you are looking for on your 37.

I got only half an inch drop from the Posies spring on my '41, probably because I was replacing a tired, worn spring with a new one. After installation, be sure the spring shackles are at the right angle, about 40 degrees from horizontal. Too flat and the ride will be harsh and they could over stress the spring hangers; too vertical and the body roll will get sloppy.

I think the springs on my car are worn out. I have never done a front spring swap. What’s the easiest way to do it. Sounds like dropping the front axle and spring is the best option. Then use a spreader to remove the spring??

You don't need to remove the axle in order to remove and install a new front spring.
Raise and support the front of the car with jack stands. On a 40 ford I used a spring spreader to relive the pressure on the shackles. Un bolt the spring from both shackles.
Then remove the center u bolt and carefully lower spring to the ground. ( I don't think i skipped any steps.) Take plenty of photos.

Rusty: Be sure and read all the info., (including any links) in this Fordbarn thread about installing a Posie reversed eye spring.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...e+front+spring

This thread shows how to install a reversed eye spring using a spring spreader.
much easier than my method above.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146018

Lots more good info. here.

You could also try a U bolt clamp

I bought a Posies reversed eye spring for a Forty coupe, it was too soft and flattened out almost straight. Took it off and fitted a reversed eye main leaf to the original spring pack minus two leaves, worked great.Ive learnt over the years that FoMoCo parts are the best wherever possible.
