Engine Numbers A31313 through A45396...
Does anyone have a block between the following numbers: A31313 through A45396?
Need some information off of it providing it is not a RESTAMP. Thanks. Pluck |

Hi Steve. I've got a 1930 Model A Tudor Sedan Engine #A3138425. I believe it's the original motor from the car. The car still has all original interior. I've posted pics on Ford Barn before. Let me know what info you might not. The block is not a restamp.

Re: Engine Numbers A31313 through A45396...
Steve -
Last night I chased away some of the critters that have nested in my early '28 engine block. I checked the features that you requested plus I looked at the features that you wanted Richard to investigate. Also, I checked my engine's production date and found that it was produced on Feb. 28, 1928. Here's what I discovered: Middle oil dam height = 1-1/16" Front oil dam heigh = 1/4" below the tappet boss Water outlet hole, center of block = Elongated Additional ribs at rear main bearing = Ribbed Clearly this data does not neatly fit your assumptions. Often there was not a clear demarcation in the introduction of new features on the Model A. In the case of engine blocks, there was a short curing time before they were sent for machining and assembly. Any storage of parts was done on a lst-in first-out basis. Therefore, for period of time, older designs are produced along with the newest design. In the case of my engine, it has the later features so it must not have had much of a cure time and went quickly into production. Also, as you know, the "release" dates are not absolute. The change(s) may have occurred prior to the "release" or in some cases well after that date. |
