1957 f100
Does anyone have any pictures of the back panels of inside the cab paneling that would cover the gas tank and inside corners. I want to make up some carpeted panels but really don't know where to start.
Thx...... Mike |

Re: 1957 f100
Hey Scrap......They did from what I can see, as they are attachment holes already drilled. I also have an old advertisement that states something about rear cabin panels. I just can't figure out the pattern !
Thx |

I don't know if ABC interiors is still around. Years ago they had all of the side panels for my two door Ranch Wagon. It's possible they may make stuff for trucks too.

Re: 1957 f100
Check those holes, they may have never been used. Are they deformed? Have paint inside?

Re: 1957 f100
I'll check the holes but it looks like there were panels there. I may just make my own and cover with black carpeting. I'm waiting now for headliner to come in and go from there.
Thx......Mike |

Re: 1957 f100
I have owned several '58/60 F100s since 1958, currently own 3 '59's an one '60.. For starters the fuel tank is mounted behind the seat, therefore there is nothing to cover up except the tank.
I have a '59 F100 V8 4x4, big window custom cab that has about every accessory listed in the book, padded dash, padded visors, two heaters, underseat and fresh air under dash, radio and safety package. There is no cover over the fuel tank. If the custom cab F100's had a cover over the tank it would have been cardboard similar to the head panel.. As a general rule the Custom cab GM trucks of the '60's had a cardboard cover over the fuel tank... It should be kept in mind that the trucks of the late '60's and hence, were work vehicles, with the advent of RV's the pickup being a family second vehicle and thereby the term SUV's was coined.

Re: 1957 f100
My '58 did not have any panels, just the bare gas tank behind the seat.

Re: 1957 f100
Guys many thanks for the info. It sounds like illl be making up my own panels somehow. I started to cut the panels yesterday, but I keep waiting for the new headliner to show up so I can see how far down to the seat the panel goes past the rear window. Once I see that I can better form the lower panels to cover the tank and inside corners.
Thx all as I appreciate the comments. Mike |

Re: 1957 f100
I just went out and looked at the original head liner in my 59 F250 4x4 and it just covers the cab support rib that's under the window, about to the top of the seat. I do not see the holes you speak of for a tank cover

Re: 1957 f100
Willow good info thx ! I was wondering how much was covered. Just below the center of that rib....are drilled holes that run along the lower portion of that rib. I just got FedEx notice my headliner will be here this afternoon.
Thx much......Mike |

Re: 1957 f100
Guys....I took some panel board I had and some black carpeting and made up a couple panels that fit in the area of the rear cab corners. It only took 2 screws to hold in place and in fact....I could have gotten away with just one screw. Really looks good and "clean" now.
If I can figure out how to attach a photo here I'll do it this weekend. Thx.....Mike |

Click the Paperclip button to add photos as an attachment. It opens a Browse/Attach box to select your photos. There is a way to add photos directly into the text of a post but so far it's smarter than I am. -edit- PS: I haven't tried it using my phone, just from a desktop/laptop computer. . Re: 1957 f100
Hope this works.....
This panel is the one for behind the Passenger side of seat. I only had to use one of the holes to secure in place. Put both in yesterday. I bought some very nice tight knit carpet material that would bend easily with panel board. Used 3M Spray Glue. It really gives it a finished look now. Thx....Mike |

Re: 1957 f100
Willow.......
These panels work great as I bent them slightly to round the back corners and kind of finished things off in the interior. |
