33 gauge panel in a 34
i am buying a 34 and i want to install a 33 gauge panel complete in the car. is it just a matter of cutting out the center and installing the 33 bezel or do you have to do body work in order to make it fit

Re: 33 gauge panel in a 34
Actually the glove box opening in both yrs is the same as a '33 guage panel opening. Once we welded one [glove box opening] into a '34 dlx dash and then could use the '34 ash tray. Has to be a no gap fit for a good tig weld. The '33 trim ring hides the joint. Newc

I don't think so.Lots of work even if you have the skills.IMO find a '33 dash and switch it out then sell your '34 dash. Here is a pic of the glove box opening. You can see the flange you need to create to accept the '33 instrument panel and bezel.

Early 34s also had the removable insert like this one I have. Mike are you looking for a standard or deluxe?

Re: 33 gauge panel in a 34
I had the same issue. Want to do the same. I considered doing the same as I have a perfect 34 dash. No holes drilled with good graining but not perfect. The hard part is aquiring the Bezel that holds everything together. I am going to make gage panel myself. I am using S&W Winged gages. Its a pain in the ass, but I think in the long run its worth it. Good luck. Stan

Re: 33 gauge panel in a 34
I would say you can weld in a panel like this one but your gonna mess up the woodgrain. On my 32 I didn’t run the gauge tunnel and machined a 4 blocks that acted like wedges on the back of the original dash panel.
In fact I will trade you my 33 pheaton for your 34 cabriolet like you offered 20 years ago so you can use your 33 insert...

Re: 33 gauge panel in a 34
I've got a 34 RHD dash panel. Might it be useful for this?

Re: 33 gauge panel in a 34
Cabrio is a completely different dash board.
yes, the opening has a return and mounting holes, just cutting the hole will not do |

Re: 33 gauge panel in a 34
Remember the '33 ash tray is different and rare. A modified '34 dash would fill your need just find the '33 parts and a glove box hole. wood grain would suffer from welding. 34 ash trays were repoped at one time. Newc
