Yes, but I flipped it before posting, hoping it would be correct

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
The stock setup had a metal pipe from the pump straight to the carb. When I fitted twins to My Old Coupe and Old Rusty I just bought a simple 1/4" compression T fitting. I use the kunifer pipe and all standard ford fittings at the carb and pump and the standard compression fittings at the tee. All the fittings use standard 1/4" olives. I like this setup, it is very versatile, I have had it apart literally dozens of times.
I'll see if I can find a pic. What I would steer clear of is any fabricated tee that involves soldered joints. I had a soldered joint on my first setup and it failed. I went to the compression tees and stuck with em. Here's a picture. Mart. Last edited by Mart; 08-06-2017 at 04:42 AM. |

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
I have always been under the impression that the use of copper tubing for fuel and/or brake lines is a no no, reputedly copper does not hold up well to vibration, Yes, it's a lot easier to bend, compared to steel, and it looks neat, but a fuel leak is not a good thing..

I bought some pump to carb fuel lines from an early Ford supplier in the USA. They were copper. And I have to tell you they were utter garbage compared to the Kunifer. I wouldn't let those copper pipes near my car. I'd strongly recommend the Kunifer stuff, though. Mart. |

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
The better red fuel line is out there. JEGs has it for example. Make sure it says safe for all fuels. Most of the stuff that deteriorates will say not for ethanol in the ad. Just make sure you get it from someone big enough to worry about legal liability, they label stuff better.

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
You asked for photos of other setups; mine is also an early 221

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
Don't know how much you can see in my pix, but I've used links on each side of my carbs to tie them together. In my opinion, this allows a more even pull on the throttle shafts [no twisting effect], I can hook the foot feed to the RH side, and by using a sliding stop arrangement on the other side, my hand throttle is functional.

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
FWIW, You cant pass a NSRA safety inspection if you are using clear or red plastic fuel lines. Must be a good reason for this rule.

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
Used to run the red line. Until>>>> three older guys came up to me on different occasions begging me not to use them.
Each lost a car in a fire from the line rupturing. Dont do it. |

Re: Traditional fuel system for duel carbs?
well now, and I thought I was the only one crazy enough to use two stock type air cleaners, side mount gen/alt and a cut down '39 generator for a fan mount..
I at least installed chrome acorns on the head/intake bolts. Heads are not painted to improve the cooling.. Red being one of the worst colors to paint an engine.. But that what we did in the '50's
