Default Surprise from MARC

In yesterdays mail I received my 60 year membership pin from MARC (Model A Restorer's Club). I was surprised as I received my 55 year pin in my 58th year of membership, so it looks like they are getting their act together and functioning on time. I was really surprised as I joined in May 1954 so it was almost to the day.

what is the earliest piece of literature that you still have for MARC ? what was the club like back then? kind of interesting when the study of a historic car becomes history in it self!

To answer bike junk I have kept the early newsletters, later a bi monthly magazine, since I joined. The early issues were mimeographed. I attended the first National Meet in Dearborn in 1955, about 65 cars there as I recall. I also attended the second National in Dearborn in 1957 and the attendance was larger as the Club was growing fast. I have a 55 year pin from MAFCA I received a year or two ago, but MARC was formed prior to MAFCA so is the older of the two Clubs. I attended the MAFCA National Meet in Atlantic City, their first eastern National Meet. Thanks for the complimentary remarks posted above and my 1929 Phaeton has done the traveling although my 30 Coupe has been with me more years than the Phaeton, being in its 74th year in my ownership. I have been a continuous Model A owner since 1937 when I was far too young to be licensed but I drove the back woods roads in my area. The area I used to drive as a boy is now in a National Park so is still wooded but many of the old dirt roads are now paved. Progress!!!
