Smile question about tires??

I have a 1930 Tudor Sedan with 19" tires...I have an opportunity to pickup a set of (4) 1929 21" tires , rims, tubes ,caps and already painted.
Is there any reason that They can't be used on my car? Thanks for any help.

They will fit, but look odd.

If the price is right, go for it. You can use them with no problem, or you can use them for trading stock.

Unfortunately you will live with every Model A'er telling you that you have the wrong wheels on it. If you are prepared for that, then go for it.

For many years I ran the 21" wheels/tires of the 1928-'29 Ford, on my 1930 TownSedan. The looks are MUCH closer to the correct 19" wheels/tires than the radically different 16" wheels/tires that a great many Model A owners are using. You will suffer less 'questions & answers' about your 21" wheels/tires than you would from 16" V-8 wheels.

In my years of driving my 1930 Ford TownSedan with 21" wheels, I found three things different from the 'correct' 19" wheels:
#1 - The tires were prone to hit the brake rod when making sharp turns.
#2.- Understandably, my gas mileage increased noticeably.
#3.- The 'look' of the 21" wheels on my '30 TownSedan was not significantly different than the 'look' of the 21" wheels on my '29 TownSedan.

I would recommend that you give these 21" wheels/tires a try. I think that once you get past 'what everyone else thinks', you will like them.

Check the dates on the inner tire. Read about lifetime expectation of tires if you expect to drive them at 50MPH or whatever. If there is no date on the inside / outer wall, then they are at least 25 years old.

X100 on that.

In the past two years I have yet to have even 1 model A'er say anything complimentary about my car FIRST. It has always started out with something negative.

I truly believe the mission statement of model A owners is "I can only feel good about my car if I go out of my way to find fault, however minor, in someone else s new acquisition, thereby sucking the joy from the new owner."

Back to thread topic... SAFETY FIRST. Please consider changes in wheel size changes the suspension geometry. And as already pointed out...watch the age as well as the condition of used tires.
