Brake Lube
I am about to re-assemble the front brakes on my 28 Tudor. I have fitted a Flat Head Ted's floater kit. My experience with mechanical drum brakes is from the 60's when I used to build racing motorcycles. In those days no lubrication was allowed near anything inside the drums. We even washed our hands before touching the linings!!!
My question is this: are any parts of the Tudors brakes to be lubricated, and if so, with what? Thanks Ian |

Re: Brake Lube
When I first did my brakes I put white lubraplate on the roller pins and tracks, that was 40 years ago, now I use Crest ecto-lube http://crestauto.com/?p=1456 --never gobs of lube, but a coating on the moving friction areas --roller pins, pushrod, adjuster and wedge

Re: Brake Lube
this synthetic lube works great and is easy to find at most stores.
i also used to use the old school white lubriplate before synthetics came available, it always dried out and made things worse..i dont use it for anything now |

Re: Brake Lube
I have been using a product by the name of Sil-Glide(I believe that's how its spelled). Put some on any metal to metal surface. Just a thin coating like already stated.

He asked me what kind of brake fluid it used and would not believe me when I told him that it didn't use brake fluid because it had mechanical brakes. He insisted that it had to have brake fluid and would not let it go. Finally I said that I used MMO on the brakes and he was satisfied. |
