Default 53 Mercury parts

I received a phone call from a fellow (Arizona I think)wanting parts off my 53 mercury. Please call. My Grand Daughter erased my Call log. I have removed the speedometer, light switch, radio and other stuff. Please call. Also Mr. Merc Cruzer I have the horn ring, steering wheel and center emblem. Will send soon. I have a pair of finder skirts. If some one wont's them I am not advertising for sale. The stuff is for a person that needs them for a hopefully keeper project. The skirts are A 1 condition. I think they will fit fords also I held one of them up to my 52 ford looked like a fit also. Lyle

There are two distinctly different style pans in the 49 to 53 Mercury range. The 49 to early 51 had the rear sump with the three studs on the bottom that attach to the starter plate/ bellhousing assembly. The mid 51 to end did away with the three studs but is still pretty much the same. The 52 & 53 ribbed center sump pan is more like the center sump pan on the 49 thru 51 Ford car and same as the 52 & 53 Ford car pan.

If this is going into an older car with wishbone front axle set up, you will need a pan from a 49 thru 51 Mercury.

Thanks, I appreciate the info, that helps very much. I'll need the 49-51 rear sump. I am trying to get my 8ba in a 40, but have run into steering linkage clearence issures. I was attempting a rear sump truck pan but that ain't workin.........

I have a 49 mercury pan. I do not think you would wont it. It is rusted through in places. the block was cracked and everything was rusted and or rust pitted bad.The intake, heads, bell housing were the only thing that looked worth a flip.
