Default Removing rear wheels off axle taper

I guess this is a regular issue. I have a 1914 T and spent a few hours trying to wrestle the rear wheels off the tapers. I'm using the proper hub puller with the nut real tight and giving it a decent whack with a 5 pound hammer but no result yet.
Has anyone out there got the magic treatment ?? Thanks

Get a bigger hammer, not joking. I know this sounds counter intuitive, but set the side you are removing on the ground and jack the other side up. You then are knocking the axle out of the hub not pulling the hub off the axle.

heat, drive in circles with the nut backed off about 1/8", puller will work with a bigger hammer.

Thanks very much. The seriously bigger hammer really worked. I guess I was a bit timid to make the king hit.

I went through this a while ago, I thought it would be pretty easy.

I borrowed a good size hammer from a neighbor for the job and swore I was going to break something, the second blow against the hub tool and they were loose

I find it also helps to have both wheels off the ground even if only one is to be removed.
