A few years ago, I went in to a gas station in Lakewood, NJ with my Jetta TDI and told the, ahemm., Foreign born Pumpster Fill it with Diesel! Ya Ya I fill! Now most of you don't know that NJ will not allow a customer to operate the pumps themselves. You must let the "attendant" do it, and if he just got here last week and can't speak english, well no matter. Thanks Guys in Trenton! Any how, I accidentally bought 1/2 a tank full full of gas. At first, it didn't run bad but it soon deteriorated to the point where it wouldn't start and I had to have it towed home. Then I had to take the rear seat out and pull the fuel pump. From there I had to syphon as much of the fuel as possible and replace the diesel, Fun Job! And people wonder why I hate NJ.

With this subject is that other mystery fluid marketed as Seafoam. I was recently struggling with a sputtering engine that been run with alcohol-free gasoline plus a good dose of Stabil before being put away for the winter. Even after draining the tank and fuel line, cleaning out the carburetor, and adding new fuel that thing would not stop sputtering and surging. Recalling rave reviews here on Fordbarn, I added the recommended volume of Seafoam to the tank and within a few minutes the engine was purring like a kitten and has run great ever since. What is in Seafoam ??
