1/2 hour might be considered swift on my 2014 vehicle which requires the removal of air intake and other components just to slide the battery out to disconnect the cables. Simple? not really.

Sometimes it is a lot easier just using cardboard floor mat. Creepers not always practical. If you are worried about your guys laying on the ground, get them a lift.

I've been using the same piece of carpet (Actually a boot carpet for an MGB) for the last 40 years. For kneeling I have a piece of dense foam, it was actually a swimming float the kids used when learning to swim. Had a creeper years ago, never really liked it. My floor is not smooth enough. It was left by the previous owner of my house. I guess he wasn't too keen on it either.

Election time is approaching. I like to use the 4 by 5 foot plastic campaign signs. They are water resistant. Just wait until after election

I have a thin piece of padded vinyl 4x7 ft. Soft side down, slippery side up. Works 4 me.

I hate creepers. They take up too much height, only work on a paved surface, don't roll where you want them to go, or roll when you don't want them to roll.

Cardboard or carpet is far more versatile and user-friendly. Plus they take up far less space to store, or you can just leave them under the car(s) and not have to deal with lugging a creeper back and forth.

You failed miserably in that regard. Often times, one's work habits or the tools used to complete a task are not an accurate reflection of one's abilities.

To be honest any decent shop would have a lift and the technician would not be expected to go underneath on a creeper or any improvised matting.

It's really not the getting down that is the major issue, it's getting back up!

I agree that carboard is good for sliding under. The getting up is also interesting . Reading the above posts, I can appreciate how I get around at 84!! Keep moving.

Since this thread is now "all about creepers", here's one that I got as a "Christmas present" that works pretty well. Pricey, but handy to have in your car.

I had a body shop and auto collision damage is usually on the outside of a car and not the under side. If there is under carriage damage, it can be repaired while the car is on the rack or bench. For auto repair, a lift is needed for brakes, exhaust, strut replacement and other under the car repairs. It is only the fortunate home repair shop that has a lift for that occasional under the car repair.

I wouldn't be without my lift! They are not that expensive and one of the best "tools" I have ever owned.
