Default Anyone seen any thing like this ?

A buddy gave me a 8ba crankshaft & rods and the plan was to use it in my 59ab.
I attached a photo showing something I've never seen . Either it's damage or Ford QC dept didn't catch this one...
Any ones comment .

I've seen chunks out of the cranks before, I would guess foundry defect. If it balances, not sure it's an issue. However I would attempt to grind the edges smooth.

Looks awful, but that's fairly common on those cranks. DD

Yes its a foundry defect. Youll see it a lot in flat head cranks

Crank probably has more miles on it than the Space Shuttle...I'd guess you're fine leaving it alone.
