Ford Script/Logo
Has anyone ever personally observed a Ford Script/logo on a headlight bar? I have no memory of seeing one. I had a report today of one and remain very skeptical, unless it's from a 27.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Many early headlight bars have Ford script on them. Most have it in several places. I have several of them

Re: Ford Script/Logo
I bought a Ford script headlight bar at a swapmeet in 1982 and had it on my 1929 Tudor for 20 years. I still know where it is today.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Thanks everyone! I am now looking for an early May 1930 headlight bar with a Ford script logo. I have two bars with no logo or part numbers.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
If you ever come to terms with selling one, please put my name in the hat. I need one for an early 30 roadster.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
I also have a headlamp bar with the scrip, but as Steve from Bert's said, it's only on the early bars.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Do you know when the script bar was taken out of usage? Or was that another June 28 item to fall off the cars like the script junction box covers? Since I am still awaiting the arrival of my service bulletins can I get a wee bit of help?
Just wondering if I need to check my bar and see if is scripted. Still trying to narrow down an actual build date, and getting closer all the time.

If so it's located just over the bottom lip on the driver's side inside the engine compartment. Between the SERVICE BULLETINS and RESTORATION GUIDELINES you should be able to pinpoint the date of production within a few weeks I'd guess during 1928-9 at least. |

or more Ford scripts between the head lamp mounting bolts."

So, mid to late July 1928 is as close as I can get. I would like to get a bit closer, and I am finding little things, like the holes in both the body and frame for the left hand ebrake, with it center mounted above the shift tower. Now, to find Service Bulletins that tell when these things ended and the others started...

Re: Ford Script/Logo
My 28 Phaeton has a tank date of 9-27-28 and still has the cover plate over the hole that was used for the earlier left hand parking brake. So that one item won't pin down the build date very much.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Mine is about the same date, a few days later. It has the holes and plate, and self equalizing brakes with separate E brake. But I never noticed any thing on the head light bar.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
I just finished reading "How to restore the Ford Model A" by Floyd Clymer publish date 1961. I immensly enjoyed the read. My dad started his first restoration on a 1922 T with a Clymer book back in 1962. If you run across one of these at a swap meet grab it, a quick read and a pioneer to our Judging Standards and Service Bulletins. I have yet to ever find information on Scripts and Parts. Hmm. Uncle Bill W. You reading this? Time to refill your pen!

Re: Ford Script/Logo
I should have been more specific about the script headlamp bar I have. It's one I bought from a friend. The one on my 9-27-28 is plain.

My May 28 has the script bar. As a side note the headlights do not have the script, I always thought that was interesting.

Or, do you mean the lens doesn't have script? It's been my understanding none of the buckets with fluted lens had script, but the lens does. |

Re: Ford Script/Logo
I am on my first cup of coffee, not quite awake. I vaguely remember something about the scripts having to be removed from many of the parts so that they could be exported. Some countries required that a certain % of the parts had to originate in the country receiving the car. Something about a lawsuit and the scripts were taken off of the parts Even if I,m wrong, hope it joggs someone,s memory who may be on their second cup!

Re: Ford Script/Logo
The buckets no script and the lens only had script on very early cars my May 28 no script on lens or bucket, but on the headlight bar and various other interesting places on the chassis.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Definitely a Sept 1929 made in Canada car. (Robertson Screws all throughout the car)
I also have special markings on the frame stamped P&B for Parrish and Bingham. P&B used to stamp frames for the Model T however I have the markings on mine. (See link) http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=179596 |

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Nice photos! Thanks! I spent some time today searching for the parts on my car with script logos and part numbers. I discovered my front bumper brackets have a C stamped on them. But what really gained my attention was the front axle and brake rods that apparently were given a "protective" coating of POR15 or equivalent covering up all the stampings!! I will start disassembly and re-restore next month.

Re: Ford Script/Logo
Agree with Tom and Steve - Henry was adamant concerning cost of vendor parts and had script eliminated from parts, tools etc. jiml...
