Arrow A & L Parts Specialties

Last week, I sent an email to A & L Parts with a list of parts I wanted to order. I received a reply from Allen.

"I am very sorry but we are no longer providing retail sales. The CT location will be closed soon. Manufacturing and wholesale sales will continue on a reduced scale due to no employees." Allen

Since I don't check in to FordBarn every day, I don't know if this is old news, but I was not aware of it. I know that many of his parts are available through Bratton's and Snyder's and a few other Model A parts suppliers. Allen indicated a new address in New Jersey.

Hi Don.

Did not hear about this but lockdown has made casualties
Allen does live in New Jersey and commuted to CT all the time since All died.
Sad news

I bought the real good and not cheap brake light switch from Brattons year and half ago or so and it failed on me.Well Brattons didn't or couldn't help me but I did find out from Fordbarn post that A and L was the manufacturer and someone posted a phone number for Allen and mentioned the day I should call. So I called Allen to see if he knew how or why it didn't work and how I could fix it and he said you shouldn't have too.Day or two later I get a brand new one in the mail ,no charge not even shipping was paid. Good outfit.Over the years you run into a guy or business that make all the difference.I just read yesterday of another gentleman in the hobby and he passed away in April Stacy Brown of Arlington Texas.Fifty years ago he used to send me parts on approval,if I wanted or liked a part then pay for it or send it back.

That is a very significant loss. The quality of their parts far exceeded most others. Satisfaction was always 100% guaranteed. They will indeed be truly missed.

I believe that they were planning on this before all of this because they pulled their ad from the Model A News months back. Guess they will only provide parts directly to the suppliers.

Allen is still making the best parts anywhere. He has just chosen to downsize and only sell wholesale. Everything he makes is sold and available thru your better parts suppliers. Selling retail takes a lot of time, and he has just chosen to do what he does best, which is making the best parts, and leave the retailing to us retailers.

So the positive aspect is we can still buy his outstanding parts, just not from him personally!
