Default Cut outs

I am challenged locating a rebuilt working original cut out as used by Ford for the Model A **with** a Ford logo. Do these even exist? I have read some of the threads and they were helpful. Please PM me. Thanks for your time and help.

They failed so often, I'm sure it will be tough finding an original.

And not all cutouts with the ford script are original---Ricks made everything with script on it in the 80s--called it 'show car quality"
just 'ford' script in A times, then script with "A", till something like may36, then "B"

i put a diode in mine some 40 years ago, used diode from delco alternator

i bought some generators at Hershey and several had original cutouts though some were very rusty

If you hit a few swap meets you should find several with the Ford script. If you want originals the first thing to look for is the open feet then look at the bottom and compare to a original. The ones without the Ford script are somewhat harder to find probably because they have no script the vendor might not think they are original. Just my opinion. Norm

So I see! I finished reading Jim Schild restoration book some time ago and he is "nearly" on the money in his section regarding cut outs. Believe it or not there are still some original cut outs in use. Most enthusiasts consider them as an accident waiting to happen and have switched out to the diode. The new repro. diode cut out with no script I understand is the correct choice, I'll take a look at the Standards book.

Thanks for the help. I sincerely appreciate your time and you have given me a very good idea.
PS: and you're right. I have purchased some of the scripts (after market ones with round holes) at the swap meets, but only a few no scripts/open feet. I read in a thread where Tom W. made a jig to hold the cut out enabling one to open it up for repair or diode conversion.
