Default Starting a Road Trip to Alaska

Well, I am finally off on my long delayed road trip from Minnesota to Alaska. I am planning to be on the road for 10 to 13 weeks. I am traveling in my ‘31 Slant windshield pulling a tear drop clam shell camper of my own design.

I am interested in what changes, if any, you made to your Model A in prep for making the long drive and for hauling the tear drop. Thanks, Bill

Ditto, Lawrie.
Dave, You will be the envy of your local club but no matter what you do, there will be those who refuse to believe you did it. Do you have electric brakes on the camper? We have found that talking with other travellers adds another dimension to the trip.
Keep us posted.

What a cool adventure !!!!!!! I'm jealous. We drove our fifth wheel to AK a few years back and my favorite part was driving through BC and the Yukon.

Thanks for the comments guys. I will post some updates every couple days…I don’t want people to bore you with the mundane!
First day on the road ended at the Lorraine Dam Campground in North Dakota.
Only event of note…70 miles into the trip the car lost power and died. After coasting to a stop a quick check under the hood found the gas supply valve was turned off and the 5 gallon belly tank installed for the trip ran dry. Back on the road in a quarter turn of the valve.
Good Day All!

Be careful. There are a lot of wildfires along your route through northern BC, with evacuation orders and possible road closures. Check bcfiremap.com and drivebc.ca. Heavy smoke everywhere. You might want to pack a respirator too.

Looking forward to hearing about your grand adventure, which make my recent one-week jaunt seem trivial in comparison.

Handy idea to add the belly tank. I hadn't noticed that being done before? Your trailer design is very well made and looks beautiful. Great job.
Enjoy the nature and have a safe trip Dave!

WOW...What a great journey! Prayers for a safe enjoyable trip.

I will be following along. Been to every one of the lower 48 dozens of times transporting & once to Hawaii, but never Alaska.

God Bless
