Default Picture from 1940

My friend asked my help to identify the car in this picture. The picture of his mother and himself was taken in California 1940 when he was only months old. To me it appears to be a 30/31 Ford Roadster, all opinions welcome.

Yes, it is a 1930-31 Model A Roadster with different wheels and custom convertible/one-piece hard top.

What would they have made the one-piece top from? Steel? Seems a little early for fiberglass....

Thanks

Are the reflections from the person taking the framed photo or is it on the original? The lower corner maybe showing the hand of the photographer. The "hubcap" could be just a reflection of something else?

If you can scan the photo we'll see an unobstructed view and who knows it might turn out to be a 1929.

I think I see a chrome cowl band, which would make it a 30 or 31....
