Question Horn Bench Test

Would a 12V 12Ah battery be sufficient to bench test a 12V ahooga horn?

Should be. Horn motor only draws 4-5 Amps.

I use my battery charger to test different electrical devices and it works well.

It depends on the internal resistance of the battery. Measure the voltage when testing the horn. Small batteries have more internal resistance. If the voltage is low the horn will sound weak. Remember that the voltage will be about 14 volts when cruising down the road so the horn will sound different in the car when driving. You will be able to see if it turns over but may not be able to test the sound quality.

IMO, we are talking here about a horn designed to run on 6 volts. I doubt any charged 12 volt battery would not be able to run it.

IMO and with respect, we are talking here about a horn designed to run on 6 volts. I doubt any charged 12 volt battery would not be able to run it.

Synchro, Doug specified that it was a 12 volt horn. Go back and re read his original post.
