On my 36 there is a floor subrail that is riveted to the wheel wells on both sides and runs under the floor. There are 2 bolts that evidently run through this subrail and into the frame. My question is this. Was there originally wood inside this C channel subrail? Thanks

There is wood in that area on my original '35's if we are thinking/talking about the same area. I may have pictures of that filed somewhere in my 'puter.

I thought it looked like a logical place for wood. Thanks

I'll try and get a picture of it, but as I recall, there were (2) wooden blocks, one in each side, of that channel and a long bolt went through the floor pan (behind the side supports in the trunk area) and through the wooden block and were secured with a hex nut. The (2) bolts acted as a body mounting bolt.

There was not a single, long piece of wood from one side to the other.

This was on my '36 3W.

Here's pics of the spacer blocks on the bench and also installed in the channel.....

Note that one side of the block is cut on an angles to conform with the angle of the channel. If need be, I can remove one of the blocks and measure it for you.

Tagman - wouldn't happen to have dimensions for the wood blocks would you?

1 1/4" wide x 2 15/16" long. They go in the floor channel which is on the descending side of the frame beyond the rear axle so they have a sloping side. The height on one side is 1 3/16" and on the other side is 2". There is a 7/16" hole for the bolt. These blocks are a left and a right, so the hole is in 1 1/16" from one end for one side, and 1 1/16" in from the other end for the other side.
