35/36 rear floor cross member
On my 36 there is a floor subrail that is riveted to the wheel wells on both sides and runs under the floor. There are 2 bolts that evidently run through this subrail and into the frame. My question is this. Was there originally wood inside this C channel subrail? Thanks

I thought it looked like a logical place for wood. Thanks

Re: 35/36 rear floor cross member
I'll try and get a picture of it, but as I recall, there were (2) wooden blocks, one in each side, of that channel and a long bolt went through the floor pan (behind the side supports in the trunk area) and through the wooden block and were secured with a hex nut. The (2) bolts acted as a body mounting bolt.
There was not a single, long piece of wood from one side to the other. This was on my '36 3W. -Bob |

Note that one side of the block is cut on an angles to conform with the angle of the channel. If need be, I can remove one of the blocks and measure it for you. -Bob |

Tagman - wouldn't happen to have dimensions for the wood blocks would you?

1.5" width. I think I have some scrap oak that will work well

Re: 35/36 rear floor cross member
1 1/4" wide x 2 15/16" long. They go in the floor channel which is on the descending side of the frame beyond the rear axle so they have a sloping side. The height on one side is 1 3/16" and on the other side is 2". There is a 7/16" hole for the bolt. These blocks are a left and a right, so the hole is in 1 1/16" from one end for one side, and 1 1/16" in from the other end for the other side.
