Default stock NOS fomoco valve springs on a 236 @.050 .355 lift cam

I am building a 4.125 by 3.312 stroker. It will have dual carbs with 43 main jets, and a delta 236 effective at .050 .355 lift cam. Something like a stock Merc cam. I found some NOS fomoco valve springs for $71 shipped. Should I use these or some ISKY g-185s.

If you can shim the NOS springs up to 50lb on the seat without coil binding, you should be ok.

You are on your own with the cam.

You can probably get some LZ springs from Mac VanPelt. He used to carry them all the time, but last time we chatted he was having some issues with supply. I checked his last ones out - they were good springs at a fair price.

If those are Stromberg 97 carbs ,043 jets are probably too small . Stock .045 jets are a good place to start.

I agree with John - 43s to small- use 45s and I use a 71 PV. And LZ springs are good.

I found some NOS stock springs from 1955 for $70 plus shipping.

There is so much room to coil bind That I could easily shim .060 to >080 and still have .080 to coil bind on a .355 cam.

Should I buy them?
