Default L100 cam

Is there somewhere around the northern Indiana area that anyone knows of that will grind or have a L100 camshaft?

@KiwiTony (member here) is/was the person grinding these cams. Hopefully he'll pop on to this thread.

I was probably one of the persons that introduced the cam to the Barn, During the late 80;s & 90's I installed them in most of my builds. The main reason was the "SOUND", and properly tuned it preformed quit well. Unfortunately, many people don't have the knowledge or equipment to properly tune a Flathead. The can has 245 degrees of intake duration, which means that a 9:1 compression engine has only 6:1 at low and medium RPM Thes ran poorly at best in a small displacement endgame, especially in a heavy car.Originaly the cam from my shop cost 125$ lifters 45$ 16 1.5 Chevy valves 50$ Today you can't do that Ina 280/300 ci inch engine, it works just fine However in a "STREET" engine a Max 1 would provide more torque and you don't need all the other stuff. When making a modification to any engine. The application is the important issue/ Esticits adds no power are economy to any engine. The Barn should help newcomers make good decisions.

thanks Ron I’ve talked to you many times throughout the years I too am an old fart. I’ve been in flathead building forever on and off. Well I’m on again lol I want this cam for a 286 build. I have never use this cam, but it’s either gonna be L100 or a 400 junior. I always respect your input. Thank you.

The 400jr is a great cam for racing, it was my go to cam untill the D410 came out. For a street engine the L-100 has a kinder profile and can be run with less valve spring pressure 55/60 and still turn 5k. Price here isn't an issue as both are alittle expensive. Too bad JWL's dyno isn't in operation we could test allot of OLD cams. I just found a Howards M-8 in my stash (NEW) interesting lobe. They were popular back in the 50;s/60's
