Default Tourist Kitchenette

Didn’t take me long to say yes. Always wanted one as I thought they were practical and cool looking. Doesn’t fit on the running board but I can use my trunk rack.

Does anyone have pictures of one of these in use? It would be pretty cool to see those.

I am thinking about stripping the old/new paint off next year for a repaint/resto. I know a liquid stripper will keep the Lead encapsulated but if I have to use a portable blaster anything I should know about when it comes to blasting Galvanized metal? I am looking on the Model T forum at an old thread where someone was restoring his Kitchenette. He has posted on making the font for the lettering.

I used Easy-Off oven cleaner to remove the paint from the Tourist Kitchenette that I had. Alas, I sold it a couple of years ago and don't have any photos.

I will rebuild the spigot but not thrilled about drinking water from the water tank. Food one thing-water something else.

Maybe you could put a liner of some sort or coat the inside.

Verns suggestion of oven cleaner is a good one. I buy mine at the dollar store.
Works well on tubs and showers too!

I think soda blasting will not take off the galvanizing unless you spent too much time in one spot.

They stopped using lead in paint about 50 years ago. You can get a test kit at the local paint store to see if yours has paint with lead in it. If it does I'd go with the liquid stripper.

Along the way, I collected a couple of items related to the Tourist Kitchenette. The photos below are copies of an original sales literature and the patent application, along with a photo of one offered for sale on eBay.

Vern thank you for that. The wife would like to get a period flyer for it now. I will post pics as I go along next year.
